Killer Whale Report
For writing we have been learning how to write animal reports. Here is one I have written.
KILLER WHALES
Killer whales are mammals and are the largest of the dolphin family.
Killers are black with white patches. It has a large dorsal fin. They also have very sharp teeth.
Killer whales live in the sea. They live in the South Pole with penguins and seals with lots of ice.
They eat penguins and seals straight off the ice. They also eat fish, squid and sea birds.
You can hear if killer whales are coming by the noises they make.

pikelets on monday
For writing we have been learning how to write explanations. Here is my explanation on how to make pikelets.
Explanation Writing - Making Pikelets
Have you ever wondered how to make pikelets. Pikelets are mini pancakes but are fluffy and small.
First, wash your hands.
Secondly get 1 cup Edmonds standard flour, 1/4 tsp salt and 1 tsp Edmonds baking powder and tip it into the bowl.
Next in another bowl whisk together one egg and 1/4 cup sugar.
Now mix this in with the dry ingredients. Also add a cup of milk. Stir until mixed altogether.
Finally heat some butter in a pan. Put spoonfuls of the mixture into the pan. Wait until the pikelet bubbles then flip it. Wait until it is golden and take it out of the pan.
This is how you make pikelets.

partly cloudly
We watched a video called Partly Cloudy. We had to write descriptive sentences to describe what happened, using adverbs at sentence starters.
The birds dropped cats of to house. Flap flap flap goes the birds as the fly through the clouds. Up high they go. Meow meow go the cats, woof, woof go the dogs. The clouds make the baby cats and dogs. The birds drops the babies off again and again and again. Happily the do this job all day long.

There was a sad cloud. A bird came along and made him happy. The cloud hit him.
The bird took the crocodile and then the cloud made a goat. Suddenly it bucked the bird in the tummy.
The cloud put him into the bag then the cloud made a hedgehog. His spikes popped in the bag. He made a shark. ROAR! He felt angry. He dressed up in a suit of armor. He felt happy. The cloud made an electric eel. Buuuuzzzzzzzz

WINTER
Winter blows its cold icy breath everywhere.
he early morning frost icy crunch and white covering the green grass.
The loud wind howls in the freezing air like a stray dog hungry for a bone.
Tiny snowflakes flutter down to land on the frozen ground,
Tiny snowflakes flutter down to land on the frozen ground,
covering everything with a white sparkling blanket.
The trees become bare, brown bones standing like statues admiring the view.
Heavy rain falls from the dark grey sky, pounding against the soggy ground.
Chilly bitterness in th e air, winter is here.

Volcano Erupting
Here is my moment in time writing about a volcano erupting.
Bang bang! Steam hissing out. Lava erupts from the big hole. Flames fly out. Booooom! Rocks roll the volcano down as fast as a cheetah. Smoke erupts high up into the sky. Red lava washed down the side of the volcano. Lightning flashes up high. Red rivers slither down the volcano.

Here is my writing about walking Te Ahuahu. Our focus was to use appropriate adjectives and powerful verbs. I think I did good at it!
“Yaaaaaaa!” I yelled, “the bus is here.” Shannon and I lined up at the school gate. The whole school rushed onto the bus. It was quick to get there. When we arrived we ran into the shed. It smelt like cow poo. We started to climb the giant mountain. My legs felt tired. It was such a long walk.
As soon as we got to the top someone came in a truck. Hone yelled out the karakia. Then he talked about the mountain. I looked at the view. I could see everything. I could see the lake and hear lots of birds. We ran down the little hill to a flat to have lunch. I was starving so I munched down my biscuits and chips. After we had finished lunch we started walking down Te Ahu Ahu to the bus. I hoped in the bus and fell asleep.
I really enjoyed the trip. Walking down the mountain was the best because it wasn’t tiring.
Freddy’s.
